With the success of the gift that was born
of the trip, a fisherman and a lumberjack would follow, Cerri
knew that she was onto something when she was asked if she
could do jointed dolls and Uncle Sam's in wood which
were a great success.
The first retail craft show in 1990 would produce
a sampling of the folkz, but all of them being men, the women
would come a few years later in which people would fight
over to own!
Throughout the years of developing the folkz,
Cerri would create families and children doing a variety
of activities as people would do in real life.
As the years passed, Cerri's
sons grew up and left home, taking of course, well earned
woodworking talents with them. Her husband no longer participates
in the business, so Cerri continues on her own to scavenge
for old wood, taking care of the cutting, shaping, painting
and marketing of the families she builds out of her love
for those wooden souls that look back into her eyes.
Cerri attends the Bay Area Art and Wine festivals
and also travels to Idaho and Washington, this is her first
time joining the Women of Western Art, so she is excited
to brush up on some 'Cowgirl' skills.
As for her Folkz, Custom
orders are welcome. You get to 'match your man' by choosing
the hair/eyes/skin color, then match the occupation/hobby/pets/clothes
to yourself for your 'gifted' person.
The Folkz are whimsical,
dimensional and fairly large forms standing from between
10-24".
Everyone is their own folk - No twins allowed!
