In 1987, Cheri and Marty moved from
the "flatland" of
the Bay Area to Sonora, CA located in the foothills of the
Sierras. Shortly thereafter, while on an outing through the
Mother Lode, Cheri discovered soap stone and decided to give
it a try.
Self taught and through trial and error, her love
of nature found its way into the heart of the stone. This
led to sculptures of various animals, but horses have always
been a favorite of this foothill artist and it shows in
her work.
Cheri's sculptures have been featured at Ironstone
Vineyards, Bear Cloud Gallery, The Wild West Film Festival,
and numerous art shows yearly throughout Northern California.
Marty still works in the shop and is wood turning beautiful
segmented peppermills, bowls, plates, boxes and much more.
They make a good team. The wood and stone work complements
each other's talents and artistic flare.
